In the world of acronyms, an IBM APAR is a term used in IBM for a description of a problem with an IBM program that is formally tracked until a solution is provided.

Most customers know that they can raise a PMR (another Acronym that stands for Problem Management Report) of their specific problem giving details to IBM Support and can get an update. Sometimes, it is also useful to know what else is going on in the list of issues tracked by IBM.

IBM provides a way for anyone to know about these APARs and their status through their notification programs.

You can sign up for these notifications from

You need to be logged in into the IBM system using your IBM ID to be able to do this.

I subscribed to Lotus Domino 7x and 8 especially because I was tracking a set of issues for a particular customer. This might be most useful when you are planning upgrades, major changes to your environment or when embarking on key projects leveraging your existing IBM Lotus Platform.
